Everything you never wanted to know about the Neves family

While I could go on and on about the Giants and the Superbowl, I won’t. At least not right now. Right now I have family business to talk about. See Marissa is over 10 months old and until the other day still had no teeth. While that hasn’t stopped her from gumming Cheerios, cheese, bananas, toast, and Gerber finger foods, it was starting to worry us just a teeny bit. Well, worry no more. The Chompers are making an appearance. Grammy found the first two that finally broke Tuesday morning.

Now that I am a bit more coherent, I have a bit more to say about the Superbowl, however, I would like to start this post with two quotes. The first was said by the character Tony D’Amato played by Al Pacino in the movie Any Given Sunday: “On any given Sunday you’re gonna win or you’re gonna lose. The point is - can you win or lose like a man?” In light of the behavior of Patriots coach Bill Belicheck, that quote is quite appropriate. Walking off the field before the game is officially over was quite rude. The 2nd quote is one from Couch Coughlin from the begining of the season that he had t-shirts made up of, “Talk is cheap. Play the game.” I think more than anything, that represents the Giants this season. I could go on and on, but there are plenty of web sites out there that are already doing that, so I will just end with this message to the entire New York Giants organization:
Thank you.

Go GIANTS!
Tom aka “Lord Lillis” and I will be at Faddy Malones in Levittown to enjoy the game. After the Gitans win, expect a sloppy drunken post here about how great the game was.

I don’t understand, what do the NY Giants have to do to get a little respect? I mean they gave the Patriots a run for their money in the final game of the season, beat Tampa, Dallas, and Green Bay on the road to make it to the SuperBowl, something no NFC team has ever done. They have won 10 straight on the road, something no NFL team has ever done. Played Green Bay in -1 (024 with windchill) weather AT Lambeau, and won. Yet they are not only underdogs to New England for the SuperBowl (which I expected) but by 14 points! 14 points!!!!
The Pats only beat them by 3 last time and since then the Giants have played better and the Pats worse. I mean the Pats only beat San Diego by 9 points, yet the oddsmakers expect us to believe they will beat the Giants by more than 2 touchdowns? No respect. You hear that defense, they have no respect for you. If that doesn’t motivate the D and Mr Spagnolo, nothing will.
Now, where is the number of my bookie…….

n August, They said they were a mediocre team at best.
In September, They said they were done for after two weeks of the season.
In October, They questioned the longevity of the quarterback.
In November, They questioned the longevity of the coach.
In December, despite their turnaround, They gave up on them.
Yet, in January the New York Giants were still playing football, despite all that They had said and predicted. But They still had no faith in them.
In the Wild Card game vs Tampa, They said the Bucs would win. They were wrong.
Then it was off to face America’s Team. The #1 NFC playoff seed. The almighty 13-3 Dallas Cowboys who had beaten them 2 times during the season. They said it couldn’t be done, hell it had NEVER been done. The #1 NFC seed (since they started the current playoff format in 1990) had NEVER lost the Divisional Playoff game. No team in the history of the NFL had ever won 9 games straight on the road. The ‘Boys were 7pt favorites. Jerry Jones had already given out player tickets to NFC Championship game that everyone assumed would be played in Dallas against the Green Bay Packers.
So there I sat, with my fellow fans
and watched as the NY Giants showed the world that

My NY Giants won today beating the Tampa Bay Bucaneers 24-14. I was at a friend’s daughter’s birthday party watching the pre-game show on Fox and saw that the whole staff all picked the Bucs to win. I think they all need to apologize to the Giants for having no faith. There was no way the Giants were losing this game, especially after the way they played last week against New England. What a bunch of losers. Next week we go to Dallas, should be a good game. Maybe we Giants fans should chip in and make sure Jessica Simpson is at the game…..

Overall I would have to say it was a pretty good week. I mean it could have been worse, right? Not to much happened in the first half of the week. Deb went to work, Dylan went to school, etc. On Thursday we had a checkup for Marissa and Dylan’s Parent Teacher Conference, which you can read about in the post below this. Marissa is no 27″ and 18.5lbs, which explains the back pain Mommy and Grammy have been complaining about lately.
Work wise I finished up working on a learners portal page for a large client. What made this interesting is that they gave me an image and said “Make a page that looks like that”, and it has to be Section 508 compliant and you can’t use tables, use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Now I have worked with CSS before, I mean it is what controls the look and feel of this website and where things are and all that, but I have always modified CSS code that somebody else had created, I never had to create something from scratch. I am happy to say that I figured it out, learned a great deal about CSS, and made my manager very happy. So all in all it was good. I also think, that since we will be doing more projects like this, that I am going to get some formal training in CSS, which is good. I know that the code I wrote works, but I also know it could have been done much more efficiently.
That’s if for this week, hopefully the Giants can get their act together this Sunday and beat the Bears, another team they *should* be able to handle.

Meanwhile, I want to know what was said to the NY GIants defense during halftime last week in DC. For 2.5 games the NY Giants defense could not have stopped a pee-wee football offense from running all over them. They were pitiful in Weeks 1 and 2 against Dallas and Green Bay. Hell, they made Brett Farve look like he was still in his prime. Then last week they let the Redskins score 17 points in the first half and when they went in at halftime I thought “well, this game is over”. Then they came out and shut them down. I was like, where the hell did these guys come from?! And again this week against the Eagles who scored over 50pts last week, they destroyed them.
12 Sacks!!! 12!!! That ties an NFL record. And Osi had 6 of them, which beats the franchise single game record. Who the hell are these guys? All I know is that if the defense keeps playing like that for the rest of the season they may never lose again.
