Everything you never wanted to know about the Neves family

Rich

So, you want to know more about me. Are you really that bored? Okay, just remember, you asked for this. I am not forcing you to read this.

Born and raised on Long Island, in Franklin Square to be exact. Went to Sewanhaka High School (1986), Rochester Institute of Technology (1986-89), and Hofstra University (1989-1991) where I received a BBA in Business Computer Information Systems. Met my wife Debbie in the parking lot of Wendy’s in Franklin Square when I was working their in high school. We have been together since July 1987 and got married in August 1993. Bought a house in Levittown in 1999, had our first child, Dylan, in 2001 and our second, Marissa in March of 2007.

I am an avid computer game, case modder, and overclocker. I rip apart and build computers for fun. Love music, especially hard rock and heavy metal. Megadeth and Queen are my two favorite bands. I am an editor and webmaster over at GruntvillE.com where we talk about computer hardware and case mods. All in all, I guess I am a quite a geek. I am also a voracious reader, especially Fantasy books in the Forgotten Realms universe, I have read tons of them. Want to know more, drop me a line rich (at) cafeneves.com or you can check out my resume.

  • Rain, rain go away…

    Family Rants

Whew. Now *that* was a rainstorm. We just survived some record breaking rain in the past 24hrs. Something like 8″ of ran fell in Central Park which goes on record as the most rain in a 24hr period ever. As in since they have been keeping records. Now to give yourself an idea of how much rain that is simply fill your bathtub until there is 8″ of water in it. Then imagine that muc water covering everything. Of course the world is not flat, so now let’s imagine all that water rushing to the lowest point you can see and becoming several feet of water, or a new stream going down the highway, or, well you get the picture. On top of all the water we also had some wicked winds, and you know what that means… the power went out. True to form the power went out in Levittown yesterday. The good news is that LIPA was on the ball and had it back on in about 2hrs.

As is normal when this happens, my 3550 watt Honda generator took care of keeping Dylan entertained and the phones, cable modem, and my computers running during the outage. That generator was a great investment.

    Family

The new office is coming out nicely, though the house is a nightmare. We have the new Pergo floors installed this past week in the new office and Dylan’s new room. In addition, his room was painted in, as he called it “Lightning McQueen Red, Dinoco Blue, and Chick Hick Green”. If you have no idea what I am talking about, please come out from under your rock more often. Seriously.

So teh desk is built, the monitor arm is mounted, and I need to take some more pics. The biggest problem I am having now is getting stuff out of the old office which has our dressers in it now. Way to crowded in there. Hopefully I will get all the computers moved in the next day or two and then be able to remove the desk, That will make it much easier to move around in there and sort though all the crap I have. That’s it for now, at least on this topic.
