Everything you never wanted to know about the Neves family
8 Aug
I guess it is safe to post this now since I got everything in writing and I am handing in my resignation at CGS tomorrow. I don’t think anyone there reads this. If they do, they will have warning of what is to come. Simply put, I got a new job as a Technical Specialist at a company called Ninth House.

Two things happened yesterday. The first is that I got my hands on the PC Version of Transformers - The Game to check it out. The second is I loaded it up on my Vista machine, it is the first game I have loaded on there. Now this machine is no slouch, it has 2GB OCZ RAM, an AMD Fx-55 (overclocked), and an XFX 8800GTX. So I load up the Alcohol 120% image and install the game no problem. The into looks great, everything is looking good until I get to the first menu.

If you know German, or just like looking at pictures, click here to see one of the most insane plexi cases ever. It is setup like a V Twin motorcycle engine, with moving pistons and everything. But don’t take my work for it, go, click, look, drool.

Site Update News
Well, I finally did it. I have all of my domains pointing to the same place. I was going to create different sites for each one, but I simply do not have the time. So here you will find posts and information on my family, work, gaming, modding, technology, and anything else I feel like rambling about. I will do my best to keep the tags and categories straight so you can find what interests you.
Also, there is a new version of the theme I am using, Redoable, and I will be upgrading to that and adding some new stuff, like the ability to post links to Digg and other social networking sites.

MIT has an initiative going called OpenCourseWare where they are offering a large number of their courses over the Internet. They currently have a ton of courses right now and expect to have all of their courses by the end of the year. Oh, and by the way, it’s free. If you would like to see list of all the courses here is the Master List. Some pretty interesting stuff there.

So I get this e-mail from File Planet touting this new beta of a MMORPG that subscribers can get into. I figure what the heck, I’ll try it out. So I download it, and it takes forever, which is very unlike FP. Then I register and they give me a key. I figure, good, I am ready to go.
But no.
Since this is a Sony Online Entertainment game I need an Station Account. So I click the link and start filling out the form where they want a username, address, password, etc. I put in my password twice and it barks at me that there is a mismatch. I try again and it barks again. After 4 attempts I use a different password, one that is 8 characters instead of 7 and it works. Would have been nice if they told you it needed to be 8. Then the last page of the registration asks you for your Sigil Forums user name. Huh? Apparently I have to have a validated account on the Sigil Vanguard - Saga of Heroes forums. So I click the link to sign up and get an error. Try again, get an error.
Fast forward to this morning and I try one more time. Viola! I get in create my account, put that in to the SOE page, and get an error. I try to access my Station account, but it’s not there.
I deleted the 6.4gb file that I downloaded out of frustration because any game that makes you jump through this may hoops, and has such a poorly planned/created process ain’t worth playing. Goodbye.
